Israeli army officer tells Israeli media today's strikes 'just a preview'
A senior Israeli military official told Channel 12 news that Israeli strikes in Lebanon today were “just a preview” of what is to come if Israel decides Hezbollah has not sufficiently disarmed, Times of Israel reports.
“If the Lebanese Army does not disarm Hezbollah and fails to meet the demands of the cease-fire,” the Israeli officer said, “Israel, with U.S. backing, will attack Hezbollah targets across Lebanon, including in Beirut.”
Israel has threatened to escalated its aggression against Lebanon if it the Lebanese Army does not speed up its disarmament of Hezbollah, a process which, considering Hezbollah was once one of the most powerful non-state actors in the world, is mired with complexities.
Also according to Channel 12, Israel handed supposed evidence of Hezbollah’s rearmament to the U.S. and France, who are both part of the cease-fire monitoring committee mandated by the November 2024 truce agreement.
Several municipalities in the South express their solidarity with the Lebanese Army after soldiers refused to evacuate
The municipalities of Aitaroun (Bint Jbeil district), Arzoun (Sour), and Blida (Marjayoun) have expressed their solidarity with the Lebanese Army, praising its soldiers' "courageous stance" in refusing to comply with the Israeli army's evacuation orders and staying in place as Israeli jets launched a wave of airstrikes on villages across the South.
The statement especially noted the "determination" of soldiers in Kfar Dounin, who stayed stationed in their barracks despite Israel threatening and then bombing a building 200 meters away.
Lebanese Army condemns Israeli strikes as 'destructive policy'
The Lebanese Army condemned the Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon, adding that they are "a continuation of the enemy’s destructive policy," aimed at destabilizing Lebanon, spreading destruction in the South, maintaining the war and its threats against the Lebanese, and preventing the army’s full deployment under the cease-fire agreement.
The army said it will continue to coordinate closely with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), stressing that the partnership between the two "remains based on a high level of trust and cooperation."
Houla municipality hails army’s 'courageous stance' in Kfar Dounin
Houla's municipality (Marjayoun district), along with its mayor and council members, expressed full solidarity with the Lebanese Army, particularly "the soldiers stationed at the Kfar Dounin barracks," praising what it described as their "courageous refusal to comply with Israeli army instructions."
In a statement, the municipality said this stance "confirms that the Lebanese Army remains the guarantor of the country’s security and protection, and a key pillar of stability and defense for its citizens."
It added that "these aggressive attacks, which defy all international norms, will not shake the will of the people of the South or that of the Lebanese Army."

Israeli officials claim strikes on southern Lebanon were coordinated with the US
Israeli officials said the recent attacks in Lebanon were carried out "in coordination with the Americans," who have been present at Israel’s Northern Command base since the cease-fire was concluded last November, Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (Kan) reported.
"The United States also recognizes that Hezbollah must be disarmed, in accordance with the decision of the Lebanese government," the officials said.
They added that Israel believes the Lebanese Army "does not operate uniformly across the country when it comes to disarming the party," and that its "the pace of its operations is estimated to be slower than expected, due to the country's internal challenges and the fact that some battalions of the Lebanese army have Shiite soldiers in their ranks."

Joseph Aoun denounces Israeli strikes
President Joseph Aoun condemned the latest series of escalatory Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon, calling them a "complete crime."
He said the attacks not only violate international humanitarian law — by targeting civilians, intimidating them, and forcing them from their homes — but also amount to a "heinous political crime."
"Whenever Lebanon has shown openness to peaceful negotiations to resolve outstanding issues with Israel, the latter has intensified its aggression against Lebanese sovereignty,” Aoun said, accusing Israel of showing "contempt for Security Council Resolution 1701" and repeatedly breaching its commitments under the Nov. 27, 2024, cease-fire agreement.
"Almost a year has passed since the cease-fire came into effect, and during this period Israel has spared no effort to show its rejection of any negotiated solution between the two countries... Your message is received," he added.
On Monday, Aoun had reiterated Lebanon's readiness to negotiate with Israel, saying "Lebanon has no choice but negotiation."

Lebanese soldiers refuse to evacuate barracks located near Kfar Dounin site threatened by Israel
According to a source within the Lebanese Army, soldiers are refusing to evacuate the military barracks located about 200 meters from the building that has been threatened by the Israeli army in Kfar Dounin, in Bint Jbeil district.
Emergency teams are reportedly requesting that soldiers leave the barracks, where they are stationed, as an Israeli threat against the nearby building, which was already bombed, is still active, according to a recent post by the Israeli army on X.
The barracks are named after Commander Mohammad Farhat, who was killed by Israel on Oct. 23, 2024, as he was carrying out an operation to evacuate wounded people from the village of Yater.

There will be "no expansion of airstrikes in Lebanon," he stated, adding, "We do not aim to escalate aerial operations."
Israeli Channel 12 reported that the Israeli security cabinet is currently meeting to discuss the situation in Lebanon. Israeli army bombs Kfar Dounin less than one hour after evacuation order
Israeli jets targeted a building in the Bint Jbeil district village of Kfar Dounin with two missiles less than one hour after issuing an evacuation order in which it claimed, without providing any evidence, that the site contained Hezbollah military infrastructure.
An investigation by L'Orient Today during last year's war found that Israel's evacuation orders are confusing, rarely accurate, do not provide enough time for safe evacuation and often target more than they claim will be targeted, leading human rights and international law experts to conclude the warnings are used for psychological warfare rather than to protect civilians, as Israel claims.

However, the army does not provide any evidence to back up its claims.

Tayr Debba mayor denies presence of any Hezbollah infrastructure at site bombed by Israel
Farid Nannouh, the mayor of the southern Lebanese town of Tayr Debba, in Sour district, released a statement following Israeli bombardment of a house in the village.
"The Occupation [the Israeli army] targeted a house claiming that it was a military site belonging to the Resistance [Hezbollah], which is completely false," Nannouh stated. "We remain resistant in our villages and on our land, despite all the Israeli attacks," he insisted.
"No population displacement has taken place either in the locality or in the surrounding area, contrary to what some local and foreign media have claimed. "
"The enemy still does not understand that its raids will not frighten our people; we will remain on our land," Nannouh said, adding that work had begun to clear the rubble of the Israeli attack and that electricity and cell phone services would be restored shortly.

"We are addressing the residents of the building marked in red on the attached map and adjacent buildings: you are located near a building used by Hezbollah," the spokesperson wrote. "For your safety, you must immediately evacuate the premises and move at least 500 meters away."
Israel has killed more than 340 people in nearly a year's worth of post-cease-fire attacks on Lebanon. In parallel to the cease-fire agreement signed with Lebanon (on behalf of Hezbollah), Israel also signed a letter of understanding with the U.S. in which its American ally made it clear that Israel would be allowed to attack Lebanon at will regardless of the peace agreement.

"During this cordial meeting, the urgency of providing aid to the civilian population of Gaza and ending the conflict by pursuing a two-state solution was recognized," the Holy See said in a statement reported by AFP.
The visit comes nearly a month after the U.S.-brokered cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, which Israel continues to violate with attacks that have killed over 200 Palestinians since.
